Lost art from the province of Guadalajara

The present iconographic work has three objectives: – Study more than forty images of the Virgin Mary located in the Churches of the province of Guadalajara, most of which have disappeared today; from the Camarillo and Layna funds of CEFIHGU. – Try to know better how was the artistic sculpture of Guadalajara in the Modern Age. – Systematize the variants of the cult of the Most Holy Mary in the region, providing conclusions of interest for the history of devotions. The study shows us the excellent imagery enjoyed by the province of Guadalajara, due to its proximity to the Madrid Court rather than the existence of local workshops. EXHAUSTED**
